Who We Are
Drawing inspiration from the innovative Acton Academy model, Fusion Christian Academy has a 12-1 instructor to student ratio and is the only K-6 school of its kind in Alberta. FCA has a distinct biblical worldview and is committed to identifying and nurturing every student’s unique gifting and calling.
Our Unique Approach
Elementary
Using the Acton Academy approach, elementary students collaborate in a shared studio instead of traditional grade levels. Here, in a large, open space, creativity thrives as students learn at their own speed, mastering core subjects. It's a place for Christian experience, group projects, and fostering teamwork, guided by teachers who facilitate learning.
Our Distinctives
Our six distinctives define what makes us unique and guide the direction of Fusion Christian Academy.
When you come to Fusion Christian Academy, you won’t find students in rows of desks with a teacher at the front disseminating information in a traditional classroom setting. Fusion Christian Academy is a learner driven school, based on the Acton Academy model, where mornings are devoted to individualized learning
At FCA we utilize a mixed-age studio where students learn how to help each other with their individualized learning, work together on afternoon Discovery projects, take responsibility for establishing an inclusive community and learn healthy conflict resolution.
At FCA we are very intentional about instilling these seven foundational character virtues: empathy, conscience, self-control, respect, kindness, tolerance and fairness.
Fusion Christian Academy is distinctly Christian in its biblical worldview with daily “faith encounters” where we impart biblical knowledge and nurture an experiential knowledge of Jesus.
The FCA calendar is divided into five-week segments where, every afternoon, students work together on a Discovery Project (science, art/music/drama, history, creative writing…). At the end of the five weeks, students make a public presentation of their Discovery Project.
Every student is on a “hero’s journey” to help to discover their unique and divine calling in the world. Real-life historical, modern and personally-known heroes are continually drawn upon for inspiration.
